Yana Genova is a cultural manager, consultant and researcher with nearly 30 years of experience in the cultural sector, at both national, regional and international level.
She had worked as a program manager at OSI – Budapest overseeing the Translation Project for Central and Eastern Europe. As of 2001, founder and director of the not-for-profit Next Page Foundation, of the Sofia Literature and Translation House as well as the Bulgarian online platform for reading promotion Knigovishte. Has served on a number of cultural organisations’ boards, including as a president of Réseau Européen des Centres Internationaux de Traducteurs littéraires (RECIT). Member of the expert group that developed the Sofia cultural strategies for 2013-2023 and 2022-2027. External evaluator of Creative Europe Programme applications. Most recently, Genova has served a year as a deputy mayor for culture, education and sports at the City of Sofia.
Genova holds an MA in Cultural Studies and contributes to a number of Bulgarian cultural periodicals. A co-author, with Georgi Gospodinov, of Inventory Book of Socialism, Prosveta, Sofia, 2006.
Resident in Bulgaria. Work experience in Central and Eastern Europe, Balkan countries and Southern Mediterranean region. Particular interest in international cultural cooperation, international cultural relations and the book industry.
