Anja Lungstraß is a researcher and documentarist at the österreichische kulturdokumentation in Vienna. She studied German, linguistics and psychology (MA) and publishing and bibliology (post graduate) in Düsseldorf, Berlin and Munich and graduated in cultural management at the Vienna Institute for Culture Concepts. Before she started her work for the kulturdokumentation in 2008, she worked for various publishing houses in programme design, press work and marketing.

Her research topics are: cultural policies in Austria, in Europe and international, comparative cultural policies, financing of culture, culture and employment, cultural diversity, cultural heritage, creative industries, urban cultural policies, culture strategies, the value of culture for society, etc. She is author and co-author of studies and publications, designs and organises workshops and other events relating to these issues and she is engaged in cooperation-projects, for example the EU-project CultPlatForm_21: Danube Culture Platform – Creative Spaces of the 21st Century (2017–2019) under the lead of the Austrian Federal Chancellery, co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme.
