
5.3.5 Architecture and spatial planning
The Law on Architecture Activities (1999, 2006) defines legal and organisation principles of architecture activities in Ukraine. It also envisages wide public participation in decision-making process concerning construction and reconstruction of settlements.
The Law on Natural and Reserve Fund of Ukraine (1992) and the Law on Amendments to the Law on Natural and Reserve Fund of Ukraine (2000) establish principles of preservation for reserved territories subject to architecture design.
In 2001, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Ukraine adopted the Resolution on Inclusion of Monuments of History, Monumental Art and Archaeology of National Significance to the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine (see also
chapter 5.3.3).
The Draft Law on Town Planning adopted in the first reading in January 2011 provoked wide public discussion (see also
chapter 4.3).
The Law of Ukraine On Landscapes (2012) and conclusions and proposals by the Scientific and Methodological Council at the Ministry of Culture (see also
chapter 5.3.3) are directed to transform the existing situation, especially relating to historic heritage at local and regional level.
