Ukraine/ 3.4 International cultural co-operation
3.4.4 Direct professional co-operation
Professional co-operation is developed in four main ways:
- Cultural exchanges supported by international foundations and participation in cultural events, competitions or festivals. For example: A worldwide contemporary art festival GogolFest, after a short break, returned in 2012. That time festival was held in a new venue – an experimental mechanical factory near the subway station "Vydubychi" in Kyiv. As before, Gogolfest 2012 included contemporary art including in the fields of film, music, literature and theatre.
- Commercial projects: for example, spring and Autumn International Sculpture Salons in Kyiv – the Grand Sculpture Salon is Ukraine's most notable art forum that is fully devoted to sculpture, reflecting the development of Ukrainian sculpture and presenting the works of well-known international sculptors to the Ukrainian audience. The VI Sculpture Salon opened its doors in Mystetskyi Arsenal art complex on Sept. 13, 2012. It pulled together the works of fifty contemporary Ukrainian sculptors and the world famous British artist Zadok Ben-David. More information can be found at: http://artarsenal.in.ua/eng/event24.html.
- Days of culture, months of culture or years of culture, when events with cultural professionals are organised by public bodies. For example: Days of Macedonian Culture in Ukraine 26-27 September, 2012; Days of Turkmen Culture in Kyiv 26-27 November, 2012; Days of Ukrainian Culture in the Czech Republic in October 2012.
- Cultural events between local communities within the framework of traditional programmes like town-twinning, cross-border co-operation, intercultural cities, etc. An example is the Forum of intercultural cities in Lutsk in June 2012.
The Ministry of Culture takes part in 20 bilateral intergovernmental and interagency committees and task forces, in particular: Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Slovak Committee on national minorities, culture and education, Collateral Ukrainian-Uzbek Committee on comprehensive collaboration, Collateral Ukrainian-Armenian Intergovernmental Committee, Subcommittee on humanitarian collaboration of Ukrainian-Russian Intergovernmental Committee, Interagency Ukrainian-Chinese Committee on cultural collaboration, Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Chinese Committee on trade and economic cooperation, and the Ukrainian-Polish Intergovernmental Coordinating Board on interregional collaboration.
