D. Cultural Employment

Information and data on cultural employment policies and trends can be found in Chapter  4.2.9 of individual Compendium country profiles.

The data presented in this section is derived from EUROSTAT and demonstrates the difference in the level of self-employed persons working in the cultural sector in comparison to the overall level of self-employed persons in total employment. The results  show the  comparatively high level of self-employed cultural professionals and thus supports continuing demands for the introduction of tax and social security measures to  improve their  socio-economic status (as available for other groups of self-employed professionals).

In addition to the country profiles, more recent or more specific data on cultural employment are provided in the Themes! section "Status of Artists", under "Key Resources" (e.g. for Finland, France and Germany)
