Oksana Shevchenko is the acting head of Linguistic and Cross-Cultural Studies Department at Crimean University of Culture, Arts and Tourism. She got her PhD in Linguistics and Cross-Cultural Studies from Kherson state university and MA in Political Science from Tavrida National University. Her activities are aimed at introducing cultural dimension into public policy formulation on different levels. Being a member of expert committee on cultural policy at Simferopol City Council Ms Shevchenko contributed to design and adoption of the strategy of cultural development for the city of Simferopol. She is also involved in many cultural projects promoting intercultural dialogue, social cohesion and preservation of local cultural heritage. The major project includes creation of the open-air ethnographic museum «Crimean World».

Oksana Shevchenko supervises the research unit on studying the cultural space of the city and how different cultural communities, art professionals and civic movements shape the image of the city.

Ms Shevchenko authored a number of articles and tutorials on public policy issues, linguistic and cultural studies and translation studies. She also contributes scientific expertise in the International Academy of Science and Higher Education evaluating the quality of research in the field of Public Policy, Linguistic and Cultural Studies.
