Cristina Farinha is a researcher at the Institute of Sociology University of Porto. She holds a Degree in Sociology and a MA in Culture, Communication and Information Technologies as well as a Post-Graduate in Labour Law. She is concluding her PhD focusing on how aspirations and competences for mobility in the performing arts in Europe are challenging artistic practices, professional profiles and artists’ role in contemporary societies.
Since the mid 90´s she has been working as researcher, lecturer, adviser and editor in Porto, Lisbon, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels on culture policies, mobility and cultural cooperation topics for diverse regional, EU and international institutions and networks. Her main interest is to improve the role of culture in governance and development and to empower the sector´s social and employment status.
