Pavla Petrová with her background in economics and management has many years of experience working for large cultural institutions and projects.

Since 1992 she has been working for the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic in different capacities - longest of all as the Director of the Section of Arts and Libraries, with focus on theatre, dance, visual arts, music, literature and libraries. She has also acted as the producer manager of the International Festival of New Dance CONFRONTATIONS 2001 and the producer of the Central European Dance Platform 2002.

On March 1st 2008, Pavla Petrová was appointed as the Director of the Arts and Theatre Institute in Prague. She is also the Director of the Prague Quadrenniel 2011 and Executive Director of the Czech Centre of International Theatre Institute.

She has been a member of different expert teams and working groups on culture policy and on mobility of artists. Between 2004 and 2005, she prepared as a member of the expert team a first strategic legal instrument in the Czech Republic in the field of arts "the Concept for More Efficient Support of the Arts in 2007 - 2013". She has been a national correspondent for the study "Mobility Matters: Programmes and Schemes to Support the Mobility of Artists and Cultural Professionals" (ERICarts, 2008) and the study "Access of Young People to Culture" (InterArts, 2009).

She is also a vice-chairperson of "the Administrative Board of Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague", a member of "OMC Working Group on mobility of artists and other culture professionals" in Brussels, a chairperson of "the Programme Board of artistic residencies and study scholarships for artists of the Ministry of Culture" and a member of "the Selection Panel of European Capital of Culture for the year 2015".
