Aleksandar Brkic worked as a lecturer and research fellow at the UNESCO Department for Cultural Policy and Management, University of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia. He completed his PhD thesis at the Management of Arts and Media program at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade with Prof. Milena Dragicevic Sesic as a supervisor and Prof. Franco Bianchini as co-supervisor. In 2013, he was offered a Professorship for Cultural Management at Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore.

Aleksandar is a researcher in the areas of Creativity, Innovation and Interdisciplinary art projects, as well as Cultural policy and Intercultural dialogue, with a significant practical experience as arts manager, and a trainer in Project, Events and Strategic Management in Serbia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Romania, France, UK, Kyrgyzstan, Cyprus, etc.

He co-edited one book and frequently publishes texts in academic journals and magazines, and acts as a Compendium expert (Cultural Policies and Trends in Europe, Serbian co-author together with Milena Dragicevic Sesic and Hristina Mikic). Participated in number of scientific projects like 'Arts and Media in the Function of European Integration: Serbia 2000-2010', 'Technical and Technological Potentials of the Architectural Objects for Scene Events in the Republic of Serbia', 'Decentralization and Potentials of the Cultural Centers on the Territory of the Republic of Serbia', COST action IS1007 'Investigating Cultural Sustainability'.

Aleksandar won 2007 ULUPUDS "Ranko Radovic" award for the production of the best multimedia exhibition (together with Radivoje Dinulovic and Branko Pavic) and the 2011 Cultural Policy Research Award (CPRA) administred by ENCATC and ECF.

As well, he is member of the Executive Board and Vice President of SCEN (OISTAT center Serbia); general manager of the Eighty Ten (80 10), an art production company. Aleksandar worked as a cultural manager for theater, music and arts organizations in Serbia (BITEF, Belef, Atelje 212, Sava Center, National Theater Belgrade, KIOSK...), and as a manager of number of international art projects.

Member of ENCATC, Banlieues d' Europe, ESA (European Sociological Association), OISTAT, Chevening Society Serbia, SDUS (The drama Artists' Association of Serbia), BIT (Balkan Initiative for Tolerance) and a Board Member of ECURES (European Association of Cultural Researchers).
