8.3.1 Institutional overview
The main schools of higher arts education are the Vilnius Academy of Arts, the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy, Klaipėda's University (Faculty of Arts), and Šiauliai University (Faculty of Arts). These institutions provide BA, MA, and PhD study programmes.
The state institution responsible for culture and art education is the Ministry of Education and Science. It takes the role of administration of infrastructure, the training curriculum, entrance examinations, financing, control and legal issues.
The Ministry of Culture supports programmes / projects of art schools - artistic activity, creativity and professional development of young artists.
