Comparing and Monitoring Cultural Policies and Trends - Compendium of Cultural Policies and Trends in Europe

Public Bodies & Priorities

Compendium authors report on the cultural policy making structures in their country by identifying ministries responsible for culture policy development, arms length bodies which contribute to this process (e.g. foundations, funds, councils and agencies) as well as expert bodies made up of various actors who provide periodic advice.  Information on the structures, competencies and decision-making processes is provided in chapter 2 of the Compendium country profiles.  Additional information is available on their objectives (chapter 3) and policy priorities (chapter 4).

The tables below provide an overview of the type of structures developed in the Compendium countries and recent changes in their priorities.
