6.2.2 Public cultural expenditure broken down by level of government
A study carried out by the French Community found that both in Flanders and in Wallonia, the Communities are the most important financial supporters of the cultural sector. The study also found that the municipalities play a more important part in Flanders than in Wallonia. As the cultural support system is federalised, the Belgian government provides only 2.4% of the total budget.
